Angus began ministry at Doon on November 1, 2000, and came excited about working with a congregation of varied ages and musical talents. For Angus, first and foremost, the purpose of ministry is to help people to develop a personal relationship with Jesus Christ, to encourage a spirit of worship in the congregation, and to make sure that the workings of the congregation are based on God’s revelation to the world in Jesus.
Angus was born in Fergus, Ontario, lived briefly in Elora and Kitchener before his family moved to Woodstock. After graduating from high school, he got his B.A. from Waterloo Lutheran University, now Wilfrid Laurier University, and his M.Div. from Knox College, University of Toronto. He was ordained in 1975, and has served congregations in Manitoba, Alberta and Ontario.
Angus’ hobbies include language studies, music (he plays bagpipes, guitar and penny whistles), and history. He is currently a member of the Committee on History of the Presbyterian Church in Canada, and an advisor with the National Presbyterian Museum.
