Worship & Music Committee

The Worship & Music Committee’s Statement of Purpose is to guide our church community through music and praise to a meaningful worship.

Worship & Music Goals

The main purpose of the committee is to advise the minister, who has responsibility for the conduct and content of worship, and the supply of the pulpit.

The committee also makes recommendations to the Session regarding: the time and the forms of worship; holding special services; the times and dates for celebrating the sacraments.

Further, the committee is the point of contact between the choirs, musicians, and organist(s) of the congregation, and the Session.

Worship & Music Events & Projects & Duties

The musical groups within the church are:

The Church Choir provides appropriate music for the church services, from September to May inclusive.

The Roos Street Singers provide upbeat music of a contemporary nature, involving all ages of membership.

The Children’s Choir is part of the Church School program. The children’s choir sings for church services on a periodic basis.

The Praise Team leads in praise music prior to our regular church service, four Sundays a month from September to May.

Congregational Hymn Sings happen: monthly in the evening on the last Sunday of the month from September to May; every Sunday morning in June prior to the worship service; plus, one Sunday a month, as a praise team replacement.

Other persons and groups present appropriate music throughout the year, in the nature of solos, duets, trios, and quartets .

Music & Worship Members & Meetings

Committee members and the music teams, to which the committee is the point of contact, become involved in special church events by volunteering their services for such things as singing songs for corn roasts and special church services.

Church Choir weekly rehearsals are at 7:30 pm Thursdays, September to May

Roos Street Singers rehearse, as called, after the morning Church services.
