Planning Support
Planning Support at Doon Presbyterian Church. Several years ago, the Session established an ad hoc (short term) Planning Committee, which had the tasks of designing a planning process, leading the congregation through the process, and then implementing the outcome. That series of tasks was completed in the spring of 2004 and the committee was dissolved. Just as the ad hoc committee was about to become history, Session established an ongoing Planning Support Committee.
Planning Support Purpose
On-going responsibility to support Session and the congregation in maintaining an active planning process. The planning process is to include:
• creating and maintaining a focus on the goals of our congregation
• reviewing, evaluating and revising of our goals
• supporting those working to achieve our goals
• scheduling, organizing, planning and facilitating Session’s study, discussion, workshop meetings, and other activities needing planning.
Planning Support Events, Projects & Duties
The Planning Support committee is gearing up to lead the congregation through a review and evaluation process of Our Goals, established in 2003, followed by a process to establish revised goals and action plans.
The Session, starting last year, devotes a major portion of the September, January and May Session meetings to study and other growth activities, using the remaining meetings for the administrative and nurturing responsibilities. This committee is available to assist Session in developing programs for the study and growth meetings.
Committee chairs and others who are interested will have the opportunity to be part of a workshop in early September to discuss and learn about running effective committee meetings and providing leadership and support to the committee members

How the congregation can assist:
• This committee is charged with the responsibility to help the congregation decide upon a vision it wishes to achieve and then to recommend actions and directions that will help achieve the vision. Members of the congregation can best contribute to helping this committee be effective by getting involved in the various planning activities that will again take place.
Have a dream for our church and a willingness to make it happen!
