Mission & Outreach

The Mission & Outreach Committee mandate: With God’s guidance, to seek and provide opportunities for our church family to share gifts of time, talent and treasure in ministries within our congregation, in the community, nationally and internationally. Outreach, specifically, seeks to make our presence known in our local community and invites others to participate with us in worship and fellowship activities.

Mission & Outreach Events & Projects & Duties

  • Four Mission Sundays each year increase awareness of, and raise needed funds for worthy causes.
  • Bread and Baked goods Sundays support Missions
  • Muffin Sundays fund the sponsorships of two Godchildren, one in Rwanda through”Canadian Food for the Hungry International” and one in Gautemala through “Common Hope
  • Casserole Brigade
  • Food Bank Drives
  • Shut-In Visitation
  • Christmas in July
  • Plant sales
  • Community fliers
  • Publication of the Gravepine, Doon Presbyterian Church’s newsletter
  • Presbyterian Record Every Home Programme
  • Weekly advertisement of Doon Presbyterian Church’s services on the religion page of the Waterloo Region Record

Mission & Outreach Gift list –

  • YOU!!!!! If you have an interest in mission & service opportunities in our congregation, community, nation, & abroad, please join us!
  • Fill a shoebox for Samaritan’s Purse; come with us in November to inspect shoe boxes from all over the province;
  • Add your name & phone number to our lists of muffin, bread cookie and other baked good suppliers,  casserole brigade meal providers, and/or shut-in visitors (in accordance with our Leading With Care Policy, a current police check is required to be a ‘Shut-in Visitor’ if you are representing Doon Presbyterian Church)
  • put your Canadian Tire $$ in the bird feeder beside the Mission & Outreach bulletin board.  Mission & Outreach will have it converted annually into a Canadian Tire gift card and send it to Evangel Hall, a mission of the Presbyterian Church in Canada in downtown Toronto.
  • Place your used stamps (any nationality), leaving a minim 1/4″ border from the envelope, in the marked container to the left of the mail ‘cubbies’ in Fellowship Hall.  The Canadian Bible Society sells the stamps to collectors.  This is just one means of fundraising that enables them to print and share the written Word of God.

A portion of our weekly offerings helps to support international aid through Presbyterian World Services and Development
