The peace of Christ be with you.

Praises:

Hark the Glad Sound” #118 (Vrs 1, 4)

“Once in Royal David City” #166 (Vrs 1,2,3)

Hark the Glad Sound #118 (Vrs 1,4)

1) Hark the glad sound! The Saviour comes, the Saviour promised long;

let every heart prepare a throne, and every voice a song!

4) Our glad hosannas, Prince of Peace, your welcome shall proclaim,

and heaven's eternal arches ring with your most honoured name.

“Once in Royal David City” #166 (Vrs 1,2,3)

1) Once in royal David's city stood a lowly cattle shed,

where a mother laid her baby in a manger for his bed:

Mary was that mother mild, Jesus Christ her little child.

2) Christ came down to earth from heaven, who is God and Lord of all,

sheltered by a humble stable, cradled in a cattle stall:

with the poor, oppressed and lowly, lived on earth our Saviour holy,

3) and our eyes at last shall see him, through his own redeeming love,

for that child so dear and gentle is our Lord in heaven above,

and he leads his children on to the place where he is gone.

Call to Worship:

One: God comes to us in the cry of a child:

All: Let every heart prepare a welcome.

One: God comes to us in the whisper of a loving mother:

All: Let every heart prepare an embrace.

One: God comes to us, abides in us:

All: Let every heart prepare to receive the Christ.

One: Let us worship the God who has come, who is here and who will come again.

Morning Prayer (with the Lord’s Prayer)

Praise: “Jesus Loves Me, This I Know” #373 (Vrs. 1,2,3)

1) Jesus loves me, this I know, for the bible tells me so.

Little ones to him belong, they are weak, but he is strong.

Yes, Jesus loves me, yes, Jesus loves me. Yes, Jesus loves me, the bible tells me so.

2) Jesus loves me, this I know, as he loved so long ago,

Taking children on his knee, saying, “Let them come to me.”

Yes, Jesus loves me, yes, Jesus loves me. Yes, Jesus loves me, the bible tells me so.

3) Jesus loves me still today, walking with me on my way.

Wanting as a friend to give light and love to all who live.

Yes, Jesus loves me, yes, Jesus loves me. Yes, Jesus loves me, the bible tells me so.

Message: “Mary: Beloved of God”

Praise: What Child is This?” #161 (Vrs. 1,2,3)

1) What child is this, who, laid to rest, on Mary's lap is sleeping?

Whom angels greet with anthems sweet, while shepherds watch are keeping?

This, this is Christ the King, whom shepherds guard and angels sing;

haste, haste to bring him laud, the babe, the son of Mary.

2) Why lies he in such mean estate where ox and ass are feeding?

Good Christians, fear, for sinners here the silent World is pleading.

Nails, spear shall pierce him through, the cross be borne for me, for you.

Hail, hail the Word made flesh, the babe, the son of Mary.

3) So bring him incense, gold, and myrrh; come, peasant, king, to own him.

The King of kings salvation brings; let loving hearts enthrone him.

Raise, raise the song on high; the virgin sings her lullaby.

Joy, joy for Christ is born, the babe, the son of Mary.

3) Love is a flame that burns in our heart.

Jesus has come and will never depart.

When God is a child there's joy in our song.

The last shall be first and the weak shall be strong,

and none shall be afraid.

Benediction

Parting Music:  “Love Diving, All Love Excelling” #371 (Vrs 1,2)

  1. Love divine, all loves excelling, joy of heaven, to earth come down;

fix in us thy humble dwelling, all thy faithful mercies crown.

Jesus, thou art all compassion, pure, unbounded love thou art;

visit us with thy salvation, enter every trembling heart.

  1. Breathe, oh breathe thy loving Spirit into every troubled breast!

Let us all in thee inherit, let us find the promised rest;

take away our love of sinning; Alpha and Omega be,

end of faith as its beginning, set our hearts at liberty.

Postlude: “Love Diving, All Love Excelling” (Reprise)
