The Invitation

The Apostles’ Creed (PBOP # 539)
ONE: We say these words together
RESPONSE: I believe in God, the Father almighty, creator of heaven and earth.
I believe in Jesus Christ, God’s only Son, our Lord,
who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary,
suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died, and was buried; he descended to the dead.
On the third day he rose again; he ascended into heaven,
he is seated at the right hand of the Father, and he will come again to judge the living and the dead.
I believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy catholic church, the communion of saints,
the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and the life everlasting. AMEN.

Great Prayer of Thanksgiving: Responsive

ONE: The Lord be with you.
RESPONSE: And also with you.
ONE: Lift up your hearts.
RESPONSE: We lift them to the Lord.
ONE: Let us give thanks to the Lord our God.
RESPONSE: It is right to give God thanks and praise.
ONE: It is truly right ….Therefore we praise you, joining our voices with choirs of angels and with the faithful of every time and place, who forever sing to the glory of your name.

RESPONSE: (tune Hymn #829)
Holy, holy, holy Lord, God of power and might,
Heaven and earth are full of your glory.
Hosanna in the highest.
Blessed is the one who comes in the name of the Lord.
Hosanna in the highest. Hosanna in the highest.

ONE: You are holy, O God of Majesty … Remembering your gracious acts in Jesus Christ. We take from your creation this bread and this wine and joyfully celebrate with joy, the redemption won for us in Jesus Christ.
With thanksgiving, we offer our very selves to you to be a living and holy sacrifice, dedicated to your service.
Great is the mystery of faith.
RESPONSE: Christ has died, Christ is risen, Christ will come again.
ONE: Gracious God, pour out your Holy Spirit upon us, …… Through Christ, with Christ, in Christ, in the unity of the Holy Spirit, all glory and honour are yours, almighty God, for ever and ever.
RESPONSE: Amen.

OFFERING: Song: “O Bless the Gifts” Offering Prayer
O bless the gifts our hands have brought and bless the work our hearts have planned.
Ours is the faith, the will, the thought; the rest, O God, is in Your hand.

BREAKING OF THE BREAD:
ONE: We break this bread to share in the body of Christ.
RESPONSE: Though we are many, we are one body, because we all share in the one bread.

SHARING OF THE CUP:
ONE: We drink this cup to share in the life of Christ.
RESPONSE: Though we are many, we are one body, because we all share in the one cup.
ONE: As long as we eat this bread and share this cup we remember the Lord’s death until he comes.

Closing Praise: #530 – “I Come with Joy” (v. 4, 5) (CCLI #2802284)
Verse 4
The Spirit of the risen Christ, unseen, but ever near, is   in such friendship better known, alive among us here, alive among us here.
Verse 5
Together met, together bound by all that God has done, we’ll go with joy, to give the world the love that makes us one, the love that makes us one.
